Martha: ‘Michael and I will have a baby next year!’
Two years on from the show, make-up artist Martha and former teacher Michael are a MAFS success story, with their relationship as strong as ever.
And Martha, 32– who has since become an influencer after amassing 500K followers on social media – tells Closer that despite the pitfalls of life in the public eye, she’s grateful that the show introduced her to Michael.
She says, “I would do it all again in a heartbeat. The show gave me Michael, and he’s the best person I’ve ever met. It’s tough living life under a magnifying glass sometimes and people trolling you, but I wouldn’t change it. I’ve grown so much since I walked down the aisle two years ago.”
Martha and Michael, 29, sailed through the commitment ceremonies, with viewers loving their laid-back relationship. The couple now live in a stunning apartment in Sydney and both work as social-media influencers.
And Martha reveals that Michael is keen for them to start a family together, saying, “We’re not engaged or married (unlike the UK series, the Australian couples partake in a commitment ceremony that isn’t legally binding), but I do see that in our future. Michael’s dying to have a baby – it’s so annoying! I do want one, but it has only been two years. And coronavirus has messed up our travel plans, which would have meant quality time together, just me and him. But I do want a baby – maybe next year!”
Despite her relationship being mostly drama-free, Martha did come into the firing line when her pal Jess, 28, told her about her secret romance with castmate Dan, 36 – and Martha didn’t tell his wife Tamara. Martha says that she was subjected to trolling after the show, saying, “I do understand what I did was wrong, and in real life, I’d never support cheating, but at the time Jess was my girl. I got trolled, but the producers were amazing and offered help through a psychologist. I’m lucky I have a good support system around me – and that Michael and I have each other.”
