Heidi: ‘The show made me very cautious’
Her tumultuous relationship with husband Mike Gunner played out on screen, culminating in the pair pledging to give things a go in the outside world. But, in fact, Heidi Latchman and electrician Mike split just days after filming their final vows after realising it wouldn’t work.
And while Mike has moved on with new girlfriend Sonja Marcelline – who he met on a dating app – Heidi, 40, now tells Closer that the experience, as well as her newfound fame, has hindered her love life.
She says, “Mike and I aren’t in touch at all and that’s definitely the best way to be. The whole show was deep and intense – it really affected me and made me learn a lot about myself.
“Two years on, I still haven’t found The One. The show made me very cautious when it comes to dating. Being on TV meant I attracted some not great people – I had to be really careful and think about who I dated. I could tell the ones that had seen me on TV weren’t in it for the right reasons. I had a few dalliances after the show that made me go, ‘Oh God, no, no, no’ and just run away from dating. Now I’m very cautious, and as soon as I sense something isn’t right with someone, I walk away.”
