‘His revelations evelations make ake him relatable to Americans’

-

Dax Holt, Entertainment & Culture Expert and host of the Hollywood Raw podcast, tells Closer that unlike in the UK, where Orlando’s revelations were considered off-the-wall, in America it shows his “realness”.

Dax explains, “Orlando’s routine and honesty around it is going to seem ‘very LA’ to Brits, but in America, fans crave to know every detail about a celebrity’s life – for example, what kind of tea they drink, their favourite pair of sweatpants – and that’s what makes them relatable and real. We want to know the details about them that make them human, so we encourage all the quirky information.

“Most celebrities shy away from revealing too much because they’re afraid of being mocked, so it’s refreshing that Orlando wasn’t afraid to open up.”

And Dax – who lives in

LA – believes that much of the criticism celebrities receive for revealing their “quirky” lifestyles is down to resentment.

He continues, “Most people can’t afford to spend their mornings drinking expensive smoothies and going on hikes. They have to rush out the door and get to work. The rest of us have monetary restrictions and obligations that don’t allow us to have this lifestyle, so we can’t comprehend it.

“I feel the British public has been more harsh on Orlando than America, as British society is more tight-lipped and celebrities are more restrained about what they share with the public. They may not want to reveal their quirks, but it’s those quirks that make people interesting.”
