Farewell Prince Philip

Just as Closer was going to press the sad news of Prince Philip’s passing was announced. For the public, it’s yet more upset in what has been the most dramatic year most of us can remember. For the Queen the shock could surely not be overstated. No matter how great an age someone you truly love has reached, regardless of poor health, their absence is shattering. They celebrated 73 years of marriage just a few months ago and their grandaughter Princess Eugenie once said, “Together they are invincible”. Undoubtedly the Queen will continue to stoically put duty above all, but when she rests her head on the pillow at night she will surely feel the same as anyone who’s been widowed – lost. Our hearts go out to her and to anyone who’s mourning a loved one.
