MIC’s Louise:
Former MIC star Louise Thompson tells Closer why she’s turned against cosmetic procedures as she prepares for motherhood, and opens up about becoming a fitness star
“I want to start a family soon so I don’t want Botox”
She’s engaged to partner of five years Ryan Libbey and has had to postpone her wedding due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Now former Made In Chelsea star Louise Thompson tells Closer she’s ready to start a family – and has turned her back on cosmetic procedures to make sure she’s at her healthiest.
Louise, 31 – who revealed that she suffered from a devastating miscarriage earlier this year – says, “I have had Botox before, but I wouldn’t get it again for a couple of reasons. Mainly because it can trigger reactions and that’s not a risk I’m willing to take any more.
MORE SECURE
“I’m 31 now, and I’m considering starting a family. I don’t want these alien substances to be floating around in my blood stream and in my skin cells and all that stuff – I want to be as clear of that as possible.”
Louise rose to fame on MIC in 2011 alongside best pals Millie Mackintosh and Rosie Fortescue – and her tumultuous relationship with ex Spencer Matthews
dominated series five of the show.
After meeting personal trainer Ryan, Louise – who has 1.2m Instagram followers – redefined herself as a fitness influencer, and now runs fitness support site Trtle and her own clothing brand, Pocket Sport.
She left the show last year after nine years – and Louise says the step back has made her feel more secure in her appearance.
She says, “When I was working on TV, I was surrounded by people who looked pretty perfect. So I used to be more openminded on surgery and Botox and fillers. But everything’s a trend and it’s all so expensive – it’s just not worth it now.
“Health and fitness are my priorities – but I would be lying if I said I didn’t care how I look and it was all about the inside. I think I just care less now. I’m no longer working on TV and I think maybe it’s also down to being in lockdown – but in the last year I have stopped caring as much.”
COMPLETE OVERHAUL
Louise has changed her life in recent years – going from a self-confessed party-girl to prioritising fitness and healthy eating.
And meeting fiancé Ryan – who she got engaged to in 2018 – has made her feel the healthiest and happiest she’s ever been.
She says, “My fitness journey really started about five years ago – through my late teens, early twenties and even up until my mid-twenties, I was really unhealthy. I was drinking a lot, I wasn’t in a good space mentally. I had so many external pressures and I didn’t know how to deal with it at all.
“Then I found a love for fitness and met Ryan – then I just started feeling really good about myself. I started to really love it. I just caught the bug. Now I’ve swapped alcohol for snacking on almonds and avocado! I feel like I’m in a really great place – mentally and physically.”
