‘I’ve had to postpone my wedding twice’

-

A recent study found that nearly 80 per cent of weddings have been postponed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic due to rules limiting numbers and travelling. In Italy, where I’m from, we are only allowed 15 guests, so my fiancée [professional dancer Giada Lini] and I have had to postpone our wedding a second time, which has been a nightmare.

We were planning to get married this summer in the local church in my hometown in Sicily, before heading to a beautiful castle on the coast for the reception. I used to bring Giada to that beach every summer, so it is really special for us. Now we’re going to have to wait until 2022 to get married, which is frustrating, but we know it’s the right thing to do. We both have big families, and we just want everyone to be safe, so we’d rather wait until they can all be there.

Giada and I met on an Italian TV programme in 2014 where she was called in as a professional dancer to be partnered with me – and when she walked through the door, I instantly fell in love with her. I proposed to her in

2019, on stage during a live performance of Burn The Floor.
