Fear’s over Kerry’s ‘sexy’ new makeover
Kerry Katona plans to go under the knife in a bid to regain her confidence, but pals worry she will forever be stuck in a cycle of low self-esteem until she targets her deep-rooted issues

She sparked concern last week when she poured her heart out over her crippling body insecurities on Instagram – saying she was turning to surgery as she “hates” herself.
Kerry Katona, 40, shared a picture of herself looking “swollen”, saying, “I’m hurting”, and described herself as feeling “feel fat and miserable,” after attributing her half-astone weight gain to coming off Skinny Jabs weight loss injections and turning to junk food during lockdown.
Kerry, who’s engaged to fitness trainer Ryan Mahoney, 32, has long championed the jabs – which help people to lose weight by suppressing appetite but are controversial due to being unregulated. It’s not known why she has come off the jabs after promoting them for two years.
In the past three years, she has inspired followers by overhauling her life – crediting healthy eating and exercising for keeping her weight and mental health on an even keel. She has also quit drinking and smoking, and took up yoga during lockdown. Just last year, she told Closer, “I feel better than ever and actually think I look s**t hot right now! I’m so proud of my figure, and Ryan thinks I look great.”
U-TURN
So fans were surprised by the former Atomic Kitten singer’s dramatic U-turn when she revealed she’s visited a “knight in shining armour” plastic surgeon. While she’s confirmed she’s having a boob reduction, it’s also believed she is having a form of liposuction called Vaser Lipo, which is designed to “contour” the body by concentrating on problem fat areas – after the surgeon tagged her in his posts.
Kerry – who had stopped yo-yo dieting after dropping from a size 14 to an 8 – was inundated with hundreds of comments from worried fans urging her to reconsider.
One said, “You don’t need surgery. Just a focused mindset, a good diet and motivation. Do it and achieve for yourself and be yourself, that will be the best feeling ever.” Another said, “Some of us are not so lucky to be able to afford fixing the external, we have to focus more on fixing the internal”. A third urged, “Be happy with what you are and who you are. Happiness comes from within, not the scales.”
Friends believe the mum-of five’s turnaround is because she wants to look sexy to continue her success on X-rated site, OnlyFans. She recently revealed her subscriptions are “through the roof” and she has made £1 million sharing raunchy pictures of herself on the site.
And pals also say they fear Kerry is looking for a quick fix to feel happy again without addressing her inner issues – while her fiancé Ryan is also said to be unsure about her decision.
PETRIFIED
A source explains, “Kerry isn’t confident with her body and how she looks at the moment. In her eyes, body contouring is the answer to feeling good and sexy again. It’s less invasive than normal lipo, but will still trim off the bit of weight she’s put on, and the bits that are toughest to shift.
“Her friends and family are worried it’s a quick fix and have urged her to work on herself and target what causes her to comfort-eat rather than making a rash decision like this.
“Ryan wants her to go down the natural route and, being a personal trainer, he doesn’t think surgery is the answer, but Kerry believes it’s the only way to keep bringing in the money as her career is now based on her looks.”
And pals say Kerry –
who’s been bankrupt twice – is petrified she could lose her income if she doesn’t get back her toned size 8 frame.
The source says, “Kerry is convinced that people want to see her in her best shape, but pals have tried to tell her that her appeal is being the girlnext-door and more relatable – with men being able to think they would be able to pull someone like her!”
This won’t be the first time the singer and reality TV star – who’s fluctuated between a size 8 and a 16 over the years – has gone under the knife.
In the past, she has forked out thousands on two tummy tucks, two rounds of liposuction and recently revealed she’s set to undergo her fourth boob job to remove her implants after telling fans her cleavage has become “bigger than my head.”
Last week, it was also reported Kerry – who’s sadly battled alcohol and drug addiction, a string of mental health issues and three failed marriages – has frozen her eggs in a bid to start a family with Ryan amid her recent revelation that she may use a surrogate to carry her sixth baby.
Kerry – who has Molly, 19, and Lilly-Sue, 18, with first husband, Brian McFadden, and Heidi, 14, and Maxwell, 13, from her second marriage to Mark Croft – almost died while giving birth to Dylan-Jorge, now seven, her daughter from her marriage to late rugby player, George Kay.
And pals say they are also concerned that Kerry – who suffers with bipolar and has admitted to struggling with “down days” in recent months – is taking on too much with the emotional roller coaster of surrogacy in addition to more surgery.
EMOTIONAL STRAIN
The source adds, “Surrogacy comes with a huge amount of emotional strain and stress, which Kerry’s loved ones are afraid she won’t be able to cope with, as she’s feeling quite fragile at the moment.
“They’ve urged her to deal with any internal issues she has – such as insecurities over her body and her desire to look ‘perfect’ and rake in money. If she is struggling with low selfesteem, the worry is that having surgery will create a vicious cycle as she will then keep picking out her imperfections. They believe once she’s happy within herself again, it will put her in a far healthier place both mentally and physically.”
