Look good, feel even better!

-

We all know our appearance can impact on our selfesteem. Plus, taking time out to indulge in beauty therapy is a great excuse to carve out a quiet moment for ourselves. Here, Closer’s Style Editor Daniela Bellanca reveals her top four mood boosters

wake-up your eyes

I could never understand why mascara would be anyone’s desert island luxury item – two children later, it’s my wake-me-up weapon of choice! Does it cure sleep deprivation?

No, but it cheats a wide-awake look. I’ve just switched to this new mascara, which keeps lashes touchably soft but volumised in one swift swoop, plus it holds out well in the humid weather. Go for the waterproof option if you suffer from hay fever.

Get a fuss-free glow

Applying a touch of make-up is always a mood booster but sometimes there’s neither the time nor the will. Instead, try adding tanning drops into your moisturiser every other day and you’ll feel more confident about the bare-face you. Forget the TOWIE glow, but it does even out your skin tone, and sleep-deprived under eyes, with the added bonus of a freshly-applied-bronzerlook with zero effort. I like to use add-in tanning drops so you can dial up – or down – the colour as preferred. INDEED LAB NANOBRONZE BRONZING DROPS £24.99

CHEAT an EASY HOME FACIAL

I’m a sucker for touchy-feely facials. But with salons being closed for much of last year, I’ve converted to this beauty tool during lockdown – a Jade roller. It really does de-puff your face. Essentially it mimics a massage technique known as “lymphatic drainage,” which pushes fluids to your lymph nodes for your body to flush out. I always apply Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil first – it’s super hydrating and clinically proven to minimise fine lines. Then roll from the centre of your face – across undereyes and cheeks – up to temples. The textured side of the roller really gets your blood circulating, which helps the skin absorb product, too. Store in the fridge to keep it refreshing.

Recharge with bath salts

These Epsom salts are peppered with a delicious lemongrass and pink grapefruit scent that will transport you to somewhere exotic – even if just for a few moments. A long soak is my Sunday night back-to-work ritual to reset my mind and body. Epsom salts are musclerelaxers, and this one has skin-detoxing benefits too. Load two handfuls into your bath and feel ready to start the week again.
