She referred to her beau, Sam Asghari, as her “husband” during their recent tropical break. Sharing a video of some baby sea turtles, Britney Spears, 40, told her 39.8 million Instagram followers, “My husband @ samasghari sent me this.”

And fans instantly went into meltdown, questioning whether the pop star had secretly tied the knot – with one writing, “OMG is Britney married?!?!”

And now insiders claim the pair – who celebrated their engagement a month before her 13-year conservatorship was ended in November – secretly wed last month.

A source says, “Britney’s very traditional – she converted to Catholicism last year – and wanted to ensure they were officially married before starting a family.

“After turning 40, she knew time was running out, so they decided to bite the bullet and have a legal ceremony at her Calabasas home so they could get on with making babies!

“It was a small, low-key affair with a couple of Sam’s close friends, and they are planning to have a big celebration once their first child is born.”
