5 MINUTES WITH...

Irish model and DJ Vogue Williams, 36, hosting E4’s new plastic surgery show to help folk with body hang-ups…

-

Tell us about the series… VOGUE: It’s about helping people who are considering surgery because they’re self-conscious about a part of their body - to the extent that it's affecting their way of life. We scan their bodies with hundreds of cameras simultaneously and use the images to create completely lifelike avatars of their naked body. This shows them what they would look like if they chose to go through with the surgery they want, scars and all.

Why did you want to do it?

It’s really empowering – and is very body positive. We all have issues with our bodies, and this is for anyone who’s got to the point where they are considering surgery. And being able to send their nudes to 50 complete strangers is very brave.

There’s a lot of emotion…

Some people had quite obvious problems that you’d never know were there when they had clothes on. But you can understand how their body issues affect their lives – not being able to wear certain clothes or being able to move past a kiss on a date. I think everyone left feeling better, which was nice to be part of.

Did you get an avatar made?

I didn’t, but it’s funny looking back as I was heavily pregnant, and I definitely didn’t realise how much it showed! Maybe If I saw my body now post-baby [Vogue and husband Spencer Matthews] had third child, Otto, in April]

I’d feel less critical of myself - or I might be horrified!

How do you cope with people commenting on your appearance?

Now I'm in my 30s, I'm really comfortable with my life and where I'm at. It honestly feels like water off a duck's back. I just don't care because I feel really fit, strong and happy. So, that's always a recipe for abusive messages but I have the most wonderful group of followers.
