Tell us about Rachel. I like the grit in her. She hasn’t had it easy, but she’s a trier and is doing her best with the lot she’s been given. She’s got a beautiful son in Liam and life is tough.

How did you find working with Charlie [Hodson-Prior], who plays Liam?

He is a fantastic actor. We called him One Take Charlie – he was always bang on. I’m a mother myself to two boys. My two little ones are still under the age of five, so Liam is older than that, but it did get me thinking about the teenage years and what I’ve got to look forward to! Liam is Rachel’s rock and vice versa, they are a team.

Did you enjoy filming the series? Filming in Dublin with this group of people was the happiest job I have ever worked on! I wished this was a recurring series so we could come back again. We were very lucky.

The most fun scenes with Charlie?

There is this really sweet moment where they’re in Elliot’s [played by Allen Leech] mansion and Liam starts playing on the grand piano, much to Rachel’s horror. But no one is about so she thinks, “Sod it, we’ll have a little play together”. I have to say that Charlie was doing all the hard work – he had learned a piece. I just had to go, “Ding, dang, dong” with my finger…

You had some action scenes?

I wish over the years I’d done more stunt work because I’m a trained gymnast. I love learning how to technically make things look a certain way.

Let’s talk about that mansion in Ireland …

It was incredible. You can’t see any other house for miles – but it would be too big for me. You just think, “How do they heat this through the winter?” There are stables and a whole other annexe, it just goes on and on…

Set in a world where everyone develops a power on their 18th birthday – except for Jen (Máiréad Tyers). It’s filmed in London, with Siobhán

McSweeney popping up too.
