Worker recognised for going ‘above and beyond’

-

AN OLD Kilpatrick man has been recognised for going above and beyond at his workplace awards.

Martin Mullen has worked for the Student Loans Company (SLC) for two years as an internal communications business partner and has been recognised for his valuable contributions.

He won the SLC Shining Star award at the annual SLC People Star Awards for leading internal communications as they moved to their new headquarters in Clyde Place.

The 46-year-old was described by one of his nominees as an “example of a colleague who sees the bigger picture, can get to the root of a problem, and explore what is possible and, where it isn’t, what other options can mitigate to bring about effective solution”.

Martin said: “It all came as a bit of a shock to receive this award, but it really is amazing to be recognised by my colleagues.

“To lead the communications for the office project was fantastic, and I had a great time collaborating with colleagues from various business areas to ensure that everyone was ready and engaged to make the move.

“It truly is the people that make SLC a great place to work and of course, a lovely new office environment helps.”

Martin was presented with the award by David Wallace, chief customer officer.

David said: “It was lovely to celebrate success at the People Star Awards, and

I’m so proud of Martin and all our brilliant winners and nominees across the business.

“It’s really powerful to be able to recognise the work of individuals and teams who go above and beyond to make SLC a great place to work.”
