THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE
I’m sure other readers would agree your wonderful magazine has really kept us feeling connected to the coast during lockdown. When confined to the house, I took the opportunity to browse through some old copies and made a ‘bucket list’ of places featured in coast where I wanted to stay once restrictions were listed. This week, myself and my partner were thrilled to bits to be able to snatch a night away at Elmley Nature Reserve in Kent, featured in your eco-friendly places to stay article. After spending so long at home, getting away was a treat. Sitting on our terrace taking in the huge horizons, watching waders paddling and swallows wheeling, along with marsh harriers and owls out hunting, was an antidote for the soul. I am a firm believer in the healing power of nature, and we have such a wealth of it here along our own shores – which we can travel to, safely, without harming the planet. Thanks for the inspiration coast, and here’s to many more staycations on our amazing UK coastline. Cathy Robinson
BEACHCOMBING TREASURES
I wanted to show coast my artwork from our seaside visits. Myself and my partner Adam beachcomb wherever we go. Most recently, after lockdown, we visited Seaham on the Durham coast that boasts the best sea glass beach in the UK, maybe Europe! Amazing finds there, as 100 years ago there was a glass factory that is now giving its treasure to the beach. Luckily, I have a shop where I sell my artwork and a Facebook page (Ali Clement Artworks). Alison Clement
DRAMATIC COASTAL SKIES
This photo was taken at Mersea Island off the coast of Essex this summer, and I wondered if you would like to publish it as it captures the very odd weather experience my husband and I had, along with many other people that late afternoon. Susan Elliott
