PLANNING A TRIP

The Northumber­land Coast Path’s official route is broken into six sections, which can be walked continuous­ly or in segments as you choose.

The six stages are Cresswell to Warkworth (approx 11 miles), Warkworth to Craster (approx 14 miles), Craster to Seahouses (approx 10 miles), Seahouses to Belford (approx 11 miles), Belford to Fenwick (approx 6.5 miles), and Fenwick to Berwick (approx 12 miles). Carrylite (carrylite.co.uk) offers a reliable service to transport luggage between hotels for walkers and cyclists on the path not wanting to carry everything (recommende­d).

WHERE TO STAY

GETTING THERE

Driving is easiest, although you can reach Berwick-UponTweed by train and take the bus to Cresswell. Arriva (arrivabus. co.uk) has weekly tickets for the Northumber­land coast, covering points along the coast path, from £23.
