RECORD NUMBERS ENJOY FESTIVAL OF COINS
The Festival of Coins online event, held on the allaboutcoins.co.uk website has seen a record number of visitors, with a wide range of expert video guides and collectable coins on offer.
Running from 18 September to 16 October, the special event has seen thousands of collectors visit the website, with the festival programme being updated each day with new content. With a wide range of guides, offers, and updates – many provided by partners Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), The American Numismatic Association, Delcampe.net, The Royal Numismatic Society, and the Money and Medals Network – the flow of traffic to the website has been consistently high. Some of the most popular content so far includes ‘Hidden treasures: coin hoarding in medieval Europe’ from Dr Murray
Andrews (see interview on page 45); ‘Siege Stories: Tales of Courage & Defiance’ presented by Lawrence C. Korchnak; and the live launch of the Medallic Art Co (MACO) website with Jesse Kraft, curator at the American Numismatic Society.
Meanwhile, the Festival Marketplace has coins and equipment on offer from a range of organisations, and the popularity of the pages means a similar marketplace page will become a permanent part of the website, once the festival is complete. Sarah Hopton, allaboutstamps Advertising Manager said: ‘The festival has been really fun to work on, and it’s so nice to see the high number of visitors that are coming to the site to buy coins and enjoy the content. The online event was something very new for us and it’s definitely been worth all the hard work.’
Due to the popularity of the festival, the majority of the content on the website will be made available to view on an ongoing basis. A permanent Marketplace has also been launched, giving visitors the chance to add to their collection all year round, and the Festival of Coins is set to return in September 2021.
