FUTURE-PROOFING THE HOBBY

-

We recently spoke to Andreina Nye, the Digital Marketing Consultant at Pobjoy Mint and asked her about the Mint’s brand new website and how the company has fared during the challenging year

What prompted the Pobjoy website to be redesigned?

In the past couple of years, we have seen an increase in traffic onto our site and the popularity of our coins have only grown stronger so we started to look closer into what customers experience was like and what they were saying about us. The result of this researched showed that we needed to expand and invest in a bigger, better, stronger platform that could support the increase in traffic and offer a better experience throughout for all our customers’ needs.

What can visitors to the website expect?

Our new website is packed with interactive features that make the new Pobjoy Mint shopping experience effortless and userfriendly. Customers can now use our fresh filters to find what they need faster, compare products, discover instant cart, and fast and safe pay as well as add their most wanted items to their very own wish list. The look of the site might feel similar but the experience will be different and improved.

From my team’s point of view, they are also very excited because they will be able to process transactions quicker and offer immediate support to customers.

Customers can also expect to continue to enjoy the same great features that we already had like free delivery on orders over £50, free fifteen-day returns guaranteed, support from Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (subject to Government Covid19 guidelines) as well as a wide range of products for all ages and all types of collections.

Which coins have been particularly popular in recent months?

2020 has been a record year for us because our most popular products have not lasted a day online! We’ve had an incredible response to the 2020 Gibraltar Labours of Hercules twelve-coin set, a new series of 50p featuring Tall Ships produced in collaboration with several countries and our latest licensed product featuring the much-loved story of Guess How Much I Love You produced on behalf of the Gibraltar Government.

How has Pobjoy coped with the lockdown and the post-COVID world?

At first, like most companies, we were unsure if customers would still buy our products especially when so many were being told to self-isolate but once full lockdown was enforced we saw the decrease in sales that we expected. However, shortly after our website just got busier and busier and we had to get more and more people to work from home to cope with the demand. Our team has been working tirelessly since then to continue to supply products and support.

We decided to transition to a new website amidst this year because we believe in a prosperous future post-COVID and we want to offer our customers the opportunity to continue to pursue a hobby they love regardless of the hardships the future might bring.

We are betting on the future of coin collecting to make sure the hobby lives on for many generations to come.

So we should all be looking forward to a coin-filled future?

Yes, now that the new website has been launched we can’t wait to share our new releases and all the exciting products we have coming up for 2021. We are futureready and we can’t wait to add even more exciting features to our online shop in the coming months.
