Fine figures at C&T
C&T Auctions featured a total of 355 lots in its online December sale, and the vast majority of items found new homes. There was a huge array of Wm Britains lead figures and a good showing of French-made Mignot miniatures also. A Mignot 361/12 set of Archers, Crossbowmen and dismounted Menat-Arms in original box, dating from 1960, realised £55, despite two chaps being absent.
As for Britains, two Gunners from set 148, Royal Lancaster Regiment, an infantryman on guard with khaki helmet, a Buffs Officer in khaki from set 16, three US Infantry on guard from set 91, an Officer with binoculars, six figures from Royal Medical Service set 137, a Mignot Casualty and a tent was an alluring and varied prospect that raised £360.
More splendid was the Britains set 1439, a Circus Roundabout with six children on horses, a central column with ride attendant, all with a gilt finish. In its original box with some repairs evident, this 1936 delight was contested to £1,550.
More Britains?
Set 59F, a four-wheeled Farm Lorry with square nose, a wooden load bed and finished in yellow, sported replacement tyres. Dating from 1938, it went for £220; while Britains set 1335, the six-wheeled Army Lorry (third version), complete with driver in beret, and in a dark green finish from 1965, settled on £70.
Plastic got a lookin: three Historex boxed kits (the Band of the Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard, a French Gun Team and a Forge Wagon) were all unassembled and in original boxes, and sold for a bargain £70. ■
