Switched on to TV scam
In May scammers rang me to say my BT TV subscription had expired and I was due an equipment upgrade. The speaker (female) had an Indian accent. I am a BT customer, but I hung up and did some research online. Action Fraud ( www.snipca. com/27749) had a report about the scam, though didn’t mention BT specifically. I read elsewhere that Sky and Virgin customers are also being targeted. This scam could prove effective if it goes after older people who haven’t been subscribers to these services for long, and don’t fully understand how they work.
