US RECLAIMS SUPERCOMPUTER TITLE
The US has unveiled the world’s fastest computer, which can make 200,000 trillion calculations a second (200 petaflops). Summit, built by IBM and Nvidia, will be used by the US government to carry out highly complex research into areas such as astrophysics and cancer. It overtakes China’s Sunway Taihulight supercomputer, which has a processing power of 93 petaflops.
