How do I get rid of Dell Digital Delivery pop-ups?
QEver since I bought my Dell Inspiron laptop a couple of years ago, I’ve been plagued by a pop-up headed Dell Digital Delivery that appears in the bottomright of the screen. This prompts me to download my ‘software purchases’, even though I’ve never bought any software from Dell. The pop-up offers Snooze and Open options, but as I’ve always been slightly worried that it might be a scam, I’ve never clicked either. Instead, I click the cross to close it, but then it comes back the next day. I’ve tried to ignore it but I would really like to get rid of it. Can you help?
AFrom Dell’s perspective, you probably did ‘buy’ some software with your PC, such as a subscription to an antivirus tool, for example. The company will almost certainly have included this with your laptop, but it accounts for a small part of your overall purchase. As you haven’t yet downloaded this ‘purchase’, the Dell Digital Delivery service keeps pushing it at you. So this is in fact a legitimate message. However, it’s also sneaky, because that free software is typically a subscription service that you will start paying for once the free period has elapsed, perhaps earning Dell a small percentage.
This ‘purchase’ message won’t just go away, because it’s not in Dell’s interests for it to do so. Thankfully, you can stop the pop-up by uninstalling Dell Digital Delivery. First, press Control (Ctrl)+shift+escape (Esc) to open Task Manager. In the Processes tab, locate the ‘Dell.d3.winsvc’ entry (see screenshot above). Right-click this, then choose Stop. Next, click Start followed by the Settings cog, then Apps followed by ‘Apps & features’. Scroll through the list to find Dell Digital Delivery Services, then select it and click Uninstall. Do the same for Uninstall Dell Digital Delivery.
