Search your open tabs and history in Firefox View

-

Firefox 123, which was released in February, adds a handy search box to the browser’s View dashboard. This means you can now search all your open and recently closed tabs, and your browsing history, in one place.

Introduced last year, Firefox View – which you access by clicking the button in the top-left corner of the browser – lists all open tabs in all windows on all the devices on which you’re signed into your Firefox account. It also has ‘Recently closed tabs’ and History sections, which let you revisit pages from the last few months.

The new search box ( 1 in our screenshot below) lets you find matching page titles across all Firefox View sections by entering your query on the ‘Recent browsing’ page 2 . Alternatively, you can limit your search to a specific section,

such as ‘Tabs from other devices’, by selecting this option in the left-hand menu. Matches for your query are highlighted in bold as you type, so you can click the name of the tab to open the relevant web page.

If you’re worried that Firefox View could compromise your privacy, by letting other people see which sites you’ve visited, you can hide the feature by right-clicking its button and choosing ‘Remove from Toolbar’. To restore it, right-click the toolbar, select Customise and drag the button back into place.
