Scarlet secures mentorship at leading law firm
»»A LAW student from the University Centre Truro and Penwith has secured mentorship and interview support from a leading London law firm thanks to successfully securing a place at the coveted ‘Inspire Law’ event hosted by Covington and Burling in the capital.
Scarlet Ring, from St Buryan, recently attended the exclusive event in London which connects students aspiring to enter the legal field with leading firms in the UK, offering a platform for networking and professional development.
The process of applying to attend this event was highly competitive and places were extremely limited, so Scarlet was thrilled when she found out she had been accepted, she said: “They told me it was competitive but I didn’t realise what that really meant until I was there and people were talking about how surprised they were to have been able to attend.”
Scarlet utilised the careers support on offer at the University Centre to help with her application as she was unsure of how best to approach it. She added: “I realised that I needed to do an application form but I have never done one before so knew I would need help with it, so I booked an appointment with Louise and had several careers sessions. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do it without Louise; she was amazing.”
Scarlet seized every opportunity to engage with representatives from various law firms, as well as practicing lawyers and solicitors. These interactions provided her with invaluable insights into the industry, allowing her to gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed.
