A new se­ries of grants are help­ing to main­tain the beauty of Corn­wall’s var­ied land­scape and the first pro­motes and pro­tects tra­di­tional wood­land man­age­ment.

The Corn­wall Area of Out­stand­ing Nat­u­ral Beauty Trust handed over £500 from its En­vi­ron­men­tal and Land­scape Fund (ELF), de­signed to sup­port com­mu­nity groups and busi­nesses within the AONB to con­serve and en­hance the land­scape.

Com­pany based at De­vi­choys Wood Na­ture Re­serve near My­lor, within the South Coast Cen­tral AONB.

As well as tra­di­tional wood­land man­age­ment the team pro­duce high-qual­ity fire­wood whilst of­fer­ing vol­un­teer­ing, train­ing and ap­pren­tice­ship op­por­tu­ni­ties.

The grant will pay for the in­stal­la­tion of an en­vi­ron­men­tally-friendly ‘so­larkiln’ to speed up the dry­ing of the fire­wood.
