Christmas? What Christmas

‘Tis the time to be merry – but it doesn’t have to be all about the festive season

Cornwall Life - - HOLIDAYS -

December isn’t all about Christmas; it’s for lamenting on the year passed and looking forward to what’s to come. And the latter could be a well-deserved holiday with the people who mean the most to you. If it isn’t already, Cornwall could be the destination of family get-togethers, where you all remember the good times, feel a warm glow whenever the county is mentioned and make the effort to go to at least once a year. Take the children, take granny and grandad or just take the two of you – there’s a special place for everyone in this county. Little ones will always remember beach holidays with pasty-stealing seagulls and that first taste of clotted cream ice-cream. Find a family place to stay where memories can be made, like the aptly-named Beach Walk. It’s set above the beach on the renowned Maenporth Estate, a collection of properties near Falmouth that have use of leisure facilities such as an indoor heated pool, children’s play area and tennis courts. Beach Walk itself has a lovely lawned garden surrounded by woodland grounds with plenty of wildlife to spot, perfect for autumnal breaks as well as midsummer beach holidays. With a beach café and a restaurant popular with locals, adults are as well catered for as the younger ones. If family members are feeling left out, plan ahead for a multigeneration holiday, quality time for grandparents and grandchildren (and not just so the elders can babysit!). Head to north Cornwall and stay on

The Flower Farm. All on one level to help the less mobile, Kingcup Cottage is one of five private farm cottages and sleeps six so adults can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Cornish countryside near Mawgan Porth. Take the children on a woodland walk to the wildlife lake or stay closer to base; on site there are plenty of distractions with an outdoor play area as well as a barn full of games. If you ever tire of the view from the elevated patio area, head to the nearby coast for beach days and clifftop walks. If friends feel left out, they can come along too by booking one of the other four conversions in the grounds. Classic has handpicked only the best places to stay across the county, with new properties for you to discover in 2019 and old favourites booking up fast. In these winter months, your pets will enjoy sniffing out new sights and sounds from the comfort of a dogfriendly cottage, or a house with its own stables. If you’ve babes in arms, find out more about our Baby Plus properties where owners have gone above and beyond to make their home-fromhome as welcoming to babies as possible and family friendly cottages have more than our generous minimum inventory, with toys and games, even computer consoles and the latest tech, to keep everyone happy. With all of Classic’s cottages meeting exacting standards, we want every guest to sit back, relax and say ‘wow’ as soon as they step through the door.
