Making a connection
Christmas is all about people and bringing them together
people sleep outdoors at Eden to raise money for the very deserving homelessness charities St Petroc’s Society and the Amber Foundation.
The £9,000 raised at the
Eden Sleep Out last year helped enable St Petroc’s to start its Cold Weather Provision programme, meaning that people who would otherwise be sleeping out in the cold during the winter could bed down on the floor of the St Petroc’s Resource Centre in Truro. We’re grateful for the opportunity to support this excellent work, although I’m appalled that people still have to sleep rough in our country in 2018.
As we approach the Christmas period, people find themselves considering their communities more closely. Eden likes to highlight this with our Christmas programme, which encourages families to get together and pay a visit to Father Christmas or go for a skate on our ice rink.
So thanks to everyone who has come along to the Cornwall Macmillan Christmas Fair or braved the chilly November air to sleep beneath the stars at Eden, or paused for thought on Armistice Day to remember those who served in the Great War.
And let’s cherish the sense of community we’re lucky enough to have in Cornwall, and the ties that bind us more strongly than ever at this time of year.
