(DON’T) PICTURE THIS Why selfies are bad for your love life
It used to be that a hot rebound and a ‘directional’ haircut were the way to get your ex’s attention, but nowadays it’s all about the revenge selfie. A recent study* found that the UK wastes around five hours a week posing for selfies, mainly in an effort to make an ex jealous. But take note… it turns out being vain is also in vain when winning affection. A separate study by the University of Toronto found that selfie sharers are viewed as less attractive and more narcissistic than those who post photos taken by others. Our advice: post candid snaps instead. The same Canadian research found that ‘off-guard’ shots were rated as most beautiful. Think less ‘nonchalantly falling off children’s slide in the park’, more ‘looking dreamily into the sunset with subtly placed back jewellery’, though.
