SELF MADE Career smarts from Bleach salons’ Alex Brownsell

2004-2006 Moved from Northamptonshire to London aged 16 to work as an apprentice at a salon in Mayfair. Left to assist full-time at fashion shows and shoots. 2007 Set up a makeshift colour salon at home. 2009 Worked on her first solo fashion shoots. 2010 Partnered with Sam Teasdale to open a Bleach pop-up and later a concession in Topshop Oxford Circus. 2012 First stand-alone Bleach salon opened in Dalston, London. 2013 Launched a Bleach range of products in Boots. 2015 Opened salon in Soho, London. 2017 Launched Bleach make-up range and the Hairmoji hair toy and brand.
