1 DRINK COFFEE AT 9.40AM

-

Coffee, then breakfast? Or, worse, coffee for breakfast? You may think all that caffeine makes you more productive, but having it on an empty stomach spikes the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline,

says Dr Nicole Van Groningen, a specialist in internal medicine. This sends your body into survival mode, reducing your attention span to barely-there levels. The hack: Our bodies release cortisol first thing to help us wake up – add coffee to that, and you get a stress spike. Save that flat white for after your body has processed its residual cortisol; if you wake between 6am and 8am, that’s just after 9.30am. It’s a technique used by Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who meditates, works and then has his coffee.
