Running at life

Personal trainer to the stars and creator of fierce holistic training plan The Vertue Method, Shona Vertue is ready to confront her fears

-

Despite spending a lifetime as a gymnast, yogi and personal trainer, Shona Vertue is the first to admit that long-distance running has never been her strong suit. However, with an ethos strongly focused on venturing outside her comfort zone (she convinced one of the world’s top footballers to change his mind about yoga and embrace it), it comes as no surprise that the New Balance ambassador would take on a huge challenge herself – by running the 26.2-mile New York City Marathon in November.

“Long-distance running isn’t something I’ve ever been good at,” she says.“I actually kind of hate it and find it very uncomfortable. But, saying that, I think it’s really important that we face and conquer our fears and resistance to things when they are presented in front of us. I’m running a marathon to confront my discomfort and inspire others to do the same.”
