If you have 3¼ days and ££ = Cornaro Hotel, Croatia

Want to chase Waterfalls in a place that’s far from Unpretty? Nothing to do with TLC. Everything to do with Croatia

CHECK-IN

When you arrive, catch the airport shuttle bus straight into Split old town (but don’t dick around at the airport, the buses leave promptly 30 minutes after arrival times). Once you’ve dumped your stuff in your room at the Cornaro Hotel, decamp to the rooftop bar and its two hot tubs. And, no, the waiters don’t mind taking endless pictures of you posing in them. Next, head to Diocletian’s Palace, once home to a Roman Emperor, now full of shops, bars and restaurants.

Test your head for heights by wobbling your way to the top of the Palace’s bell tower for a view of the Adriatic sea. Then reward yourself with pizza and ice cream – try Portas Pizzeria and Luka. Day two, take a bus tour to Krka National Park (home to seven waterfalls), and on your final day, hire bikes to Bene beach, where you can relax, beer in hand, then jump off the pier into the clear water…

CHECK-OUT

You’ll need to dry off by 4pm to catch the bus back to Split airport. Stock up on Touche Eclat in duty-free and no one will know you’ve been away.

Rooms from £200; Cornaro.com. Flights from £70 return; Easyjet.com
