DAY 5 & 6
Check back into Shangri-La Tanjung Aru. Yes, it’s confusing to keep switching around, but this one is nearer the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, a collection of five islands that host private resorts, dive schools and, most importantly, an island-to-island zip wire that’s pretty much the best legal high we’ve found yet. If you want another hit of wildlife, one of the islands, Gaya, has a marine centre and turtle rehabilitation area (on its own stretch of private beach… with a banging Malaysian restaurant next door… should you need convincing). If that all sounds like too much, get a Balinese massage at the Gaya Island Resort spa, and then take a speedboat shuttle back to your hotel to watch the sun set.
