MY CULTURED LIFE Just when we thought we couldn’t want to be mates with Mindy Kaling any more, we read this

Mindy Kaling shares what’s keeping her entertained this month

First thing you read in the morning? The weather app on my phone. I recently moved from LA to New York [for a movie] and kept getting caught without an umbrella.

What TV shows do you binge on? Dramas, such as Happy Valley, because watching a comedy reminds me of work.

The last film that made you cry? You’ve Got Mail. There’s a flashback of Meg Ryan’s character dancing with her mother and it makes me miss my mom [who died in 2012]. I always cry at that scene.

What’s on your workout playlist? A lot of Bruno Mars. My favourite is That’s What I Like.

What book is on your bedside table waiting to be read? Fresh Complaint by Jeffrey Eugenides. I met him at a New Yorker party and he was so funny.

Last thing you bought? A Moncler parka. It’s shiny and so warm.

Last thing you do before bed? Since having a baby I’ve become more focused on skincare – basically I’m trying to make myself look less tired. So I do a four-step regime with Joanna Vargas products.

Song that’s guaranteed to get you on the dancefloor? I can’t even say it without offending people. It’s by Kanye West and Jay Z, and I call it ‘Fellas in Paris,’ to be respectful.

Go-to takeaway dish? Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings [in New York].

Last podcast you listened to? Making Oprah, a retrospective of her career. It’s amazing.

What was your last Google search? ‘Can Latisse [an eyelash-growing treatment] change your eye colour?’ Apparently it can, in rare instances.

Last account you followed on Instagram? Kensington Palace. Meghan Markle is just so glamorous.

Favourite emoji? The man with the monocle.

Last time you were star-struck? When Jay Z and Beyoncé snuck into the premiere of A Wrinkle In Time. A photo surfaced the next day of Jay Z looking directly at me on the poster and it was the coolest thing I’ve ever put on Instagram.

Ocean’s 8 is in cinemas from 18th June
