The route

-

Only 70km of road separates Ducasse’s two hotels, and what a drive it is. Start in the sprawling vineyard territory of the Var (Brad Pitt’s winery isn’t far away), before weaving your way up into the crown of Provence, the Verdon Gorge. Lakes, cliffs, villages untouched by modern life (take the small detour to the tiny village of Châteaudouble for lunch) – it’s all here. Then arrive in Moustier-Sainte-Marie (left), a town as famous for its pottery (not cheap but worth the splurge) as its winding streets.
