LIL’ KIM, CHRISTINA AGUILERA, MYA AND PINK (2001)
Who? The group behind Moulin Rouge’s lead single, Lady Marmalade.
High point: Nine weeks atop the charts (remember those?).
Low point: Conflict over who got to sing lead started a 16-year feud between Pink and Aguilera. What the internet thought: “They look like a bunch of old wenches… deliberately.”
McBUSTED (2013–2015)
Who? Pop-punk band McFly plus Matt and James of Busted formed a six-strong crew known for jumping with guitars.
High point: Their only album went gold.
Low point: Spelling out the word “dick” with poses on the red carpet. The maturity! What the internet thought: “Relentlessly catchy and knowingly ludicrous, McBusted stick to your brain like toxic sparkly bubblegum.”
D12 (1995–2017)
Who? Hip-hop band with Eminem and, er, household names Mr Porter, Bizarre and more. High point: Their 2004 album, D12 World, sold over half a million in the first week. Low point: Got kicked off the Warped Tour in 2001, after a fight with rival group Natas. What the internet thought: “Can y’all play straight Wu Tang and D12 at my funeral?”
THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS (2007–2016)
Who? Mainly ex-Rascals frontman Miles Kane and Arctic Monkey Alex Turner. High point: No1 album The Age Of The Understatement. Low point: Turner went from headlining Glasto with AM in 2007 to opening for cringe cadets The Cribs. What the internet thought: “The second album makes very clear Alex Turner and Miles Kane are sexy men with sexy lives having lots of sexy sex with their sexy girlfriends.”
