GLOW MISTS One spray and we’re away? Count us in

Face refreshers that leave skin looking lit from within? Beauty editor CASSIE POWNEY had a spritz-up to find the best

-

Ciaté Dewy Spritz, £22 Boasting hydrating hyaluronic acid and green tea extract, this one’s designed to prime skin for make-up as well as set it once it’s applied. The iridescent pearls floating around in the bottle don’t pack that much punch on skin, so don’t stop here for look-at-me luminosity.

Smashbox + Vlada Limited Edition Petal Metal Shimmer Spray, £26 This flattering rosegold illuminator is the most light-reflecting of the bunch. It’s also a limited edition, so grab it while you can. It’s not exactly a fine mist, so obey instructions and apply before make-up, blending with or without your usual base.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ in Pinklite, £19 (also available in Goldlite) This is another surprisingly subtle one considering how sparkly it looks in the bottle. I’d have preferred a light spattering rather than a dousing (a fine mist it’s not), but my makeup did stay put during a pretty intense heatwave, so it doesn’t fall short of its fixing promise.

Iconic Prep-Set-Glow in Glow, £18.50 (also available in Original) A bronzetinted water that sits closer to Smashbox on the shimmer scale. There are plenty of skin-loving ingredients in there, too; cucumber extract, chamomile, green tea and vitamin E. I found the spray quite saturating so would always apply before make-up, leaving the setting function a bit redundant.

Editor’s pick...

Cover FX Dewy Finish Setting Spray, £23 Finally, a delicate mist that doesn’t make you look like you’ve been sprayed by a passing car. The effects are subtle; think fresh and natural rather than a JLo glow. But if, like me, you’re after fresh-all-day foundation and can take or leave the shimmer, proceed to checkout.
