BOOB GOGGLES
THE BIG IDEA: Crisalix – post-surgery breast-augmentation simulation software used by MyAesthetics (Myaesthetics.uk).
WHY IT SOUNDS EXCITING: Ever wonder what you’d really look like with bigger boobs? Well, this claims to give you a sneaky peek. Using Crisalix virtual-reality technology, surgeons can demonstrate how your new breasts will look in 3D when you’re lying down, jumping around or doing a handstand – all through a pair of goggles. Freaky, huh?
WHAT IT ACTUALLY DOES: The surgeon takes pictures of your breasts from all angles and enters them into the Crisalix software. It’ll transform them into the shape and size you’re looking for on the screen. If you’re brave, you’ll then be transported into an alternate universe via a VR headset, where you can look down at the breasts you had imagined. Sounds useful, but according to dermatologist Dr Sarah Tonks,“Programmes like these aren’t always realistic. The simulation doesn’t show how changing a body part affects the surrounding soft tissue. If you make breasts bigger, they will pull at the surrounding tissue from other places.”
WORTH IT? If you’re considering breast augmentation, then Crisalix can be helpful. But remember, simulation is just that – not a definitive, guaranteed outcome.
