“It would have been hard to believe that Emily, who was full of life as we chatted over lunch at a hotel in London, had spent 17 years of her life in misery, had I not been on a similar journey myself – though not quite so severe. When I went to see my male GP for the first time about my symptoms last year, he practically laughed me out of the surgery, but I’m now looking for a second opinion. More needs to be done to recognise this very serious disorder that can take lives.”
