Brook House Woods, Herefordshire

round window. Popular with honeymooners, this is a no-children adult love-nest. Tip: if you’re going with your significant other, it’s definitely worth forking out an extra £35 for the “silver package” as there’ll be chocolates, flowers and champagne on ice waiting for you when you arrive. Heads-up, there’s no Wi-Fi here, so you’ll have to wait until you get home to update your feed with all those dreamy “forest views from my bed” shots. A soak in the outside bath is a must-do, as is a long walk across the surrounding moors – you’ll double your 10,000 steps a day, guaranteed. Want to head out for something to eat? Try the romantically named Highwayman Inn – it’s just a few miles away in the small village of Sourton.

From £115 per night;

shower room and decking with a picnic table and fire pit. We applaud all the quirky extras the hosts have added, like a push bike, complete with a basket of flowers, and a bus-stop sign at the entrance to the paddock. It’s permanently parked, but who would want to drive away from somewhere so peaceful anyway? A dip in the bright-red, wood-fired hot tub while sipping a glass of bubbly and staring at the epic views of the surrounding rolling hills is probably the highlight of the big-bus experience. Memorable.
