be Pinterest-ed by interiors geeks. Upstairs there’s a mezzanine library lined with rows and rows of books and a large screen for the Netflix night of your dreams. Four bedrooms are painted in shades you know you love but haven’t got round to trying at home yet – like dark green and burnt orange – with bronze bedside lamps and soft white linen adding to the hotel-style experience. It’s a three-night minimum stay and if you can’t be bothered to cook every evening, owners Gethin and Carolynn (who live across the road) are happy to arrange for a chef to come in and cater for you one night, or it’s a two-minute walk to Selkirk’s restaurants. Despite the fact that it’s pretty remote, there’s actually loads to do here, including archery, Land-Rover safaris (it’s a good place for spotting golden eagles) and alpaca trekking, alongside things like cycling and hiking. A visit to Selkirk Distillers for a gin-tasting session is a very good idea, and if you want to tick off some sightseeing during your stay, Hadrian’s Wall is an hour-and-a-half’s drive south, while Edinburgh’s an hour north.
