New research from St Michael’s Hospital in Canada suggests that pasta may not be so bad for us after all. Unlike most refined carbohydrates, which are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, pasta has a low glycemic index, meaning it causes smaller increases in blood sugar levels than foods with a high glycemic index. The study said that when eaten as part of a healthy diet, pasta has no adverse effects.
