Late Ro­man­ti­cism and Be­yond: The Arts and Mu­sic be­tween 1848 and 1900 Satur­day, May 11, 10am-3.30pm A pe­riod of po­lit­i­cal tur­moil, industrial change and revolution, the rise of na­tion­al­ism, colo­nial­ism and the en­su­ing the­atres of war were re­flected in many ways in the arts. They moved from late Ro­man­ti­cism to France and Moder­nity, in­flu­enced by Baude­laire’s writ­ings, the im­pact of the Re­al­ism of Courbet and Manet through to the Im­pres­sion­ism of Monet and the in­di­vid­u­al­ity of Renoir and De­gas.
