Late Romanticism and Beyond: The Arts and Music between 1848 and 1900 Saturday, May 11, 10am-3.30pm A period of political turmoil, industrial change and revolution, the rise of nationalism, colonialism and the ensuing theatres of war were reflected in many ways in the arts. They moved from late Romanticism to France and Modernity, influenced by Baudelaire’s writings, the impact of the Realism of Courbet and Manet through to the Impressionism of Monet and the individuality of Renoir and Degas.
