Things I’ve seen, done and loved this month

Summer holidays are on the horizon with many of us seeking out waterside and shoreline destinations in which to relax. Breathing in sea air, enjoying the endless views and connecting with the natural rhythm of the tides has long been an antidote to everyday life, and the homes we travelled to this issue all tell of the timeless and therapeutic nature of living close to water. From a fisherman’s cottage in Norfolk (page 54) to a contemporary new-build eco home overlooking the Sound of Mull (page 34), the properties featured in the coming pages are filled with a need for space to feel carefree and alive. Inspired by estuary flora and fauna, this summer’s obsession with muted bird and shell designs is brought to life with easy-on-the-eye decorating ideas on page 64. I particularly love the inky and washed coastal colours chosen by our style team.
