MODERN COUNTRY CLASSIC
Paving
In the winter months a garden relies on hard landscaping to give it structure and interest. The paving and Belgian bricks in Jane’s garden provide a strong base that links the garden rooms, and the variety of sizes and shades please the eye. Here’s what to think about...
• Start by gathering together hard landscaping ideas from magazines, Pinterest and other gardens you like.
• Get lots of samples in order to work out the effect you want.
• Include more than one size and/ or shade of paving.
• Check that the colours compliment local building materials, for instance use sandy colours with Cotswold stone.
• Do your measuring carefully – over-ordering quantities can be expensive, but under-ordering might be disastrous!
