Nothing says sumptuous like a generous bed piled high with cushions and throws, and they are easy to change with the seasons. ‘Start with three fabrics – the key is to vary the pattern scale. Pick a large-scale pattern as your main one; the second should be half its scale, like a large floral paired with a plaid or geometric,’ says Debbie Leigh, design manager at ILIV. ‘The third can be similar to either of the first two but using matching colours. When mixing two or three patterns, consider breaking them up with plains.’
