If you have the space, think beyond the conventional narrow bedside cabinet. ‘The perfect design will provide plenty of storage so you can keep the surface uncluttered but also have everything at your fingertips,’ says Henry Tovey, furniture designer at Neptune. ‘A bedside light will provide soft illumination for reading but also work as a focal point and add height to your scheme.’ If space is tight, a bedside table on legs or a wall-mounted design will leave more floor visible, creating the illusion of extra space.
