Deserving of my medals

-

YOUR article on the Clandon fire (‘Fight fire with fire’, March 8) reminded me of the medal room of the Surrey Infantry Museum (Letters, March 22), every surface covered in medal groups. I believe that this room was completely destroyed and that the examples I hold might be unique. They were awarded to my uncle, Guy Olliver, and include an MC. Each campaign medal is inscribed with his rank at the time from Lt through to Lt Col in 1918 (aged 26) and, when a new museum is opened, I will present them to it. Orme Olliver, Buckinghamshire
