Clean up your act
IWAS disappointed and exasperated by a BBC Breakfast news report that Swindon Borough Council has told its residents they needn’t bother to separate their plastic waste from general household waste. We understand that it will be incinerated in future. The problem seems to revolve around sorting the waste into recyclable plastic.
Can’t be done? Chelmsford in Essex has a good record at recycling plastic, so why is there no cross reference between the best and worst counties? This growing problem needs to be tackled by everyone in a position of authority at county level and, if found wanting, the regulator should intervene. It just needs the will and resolve to keep our nation clean. Dennis Andrews, Essex
