Horticultural aide memoire Plant tulips for spring
The chosen moment for planting tulips has arrived. Just before you finalise your planting calculations, go through the bags of bulbs and weed out the obvious failures: even in the best of all possible worlds, there are always a few. In the open ground, include tulips in spring bedding by planting them regularly and marking with canes before filling the space with wallflowers. In pots, reduce the spacing and fairly pack them in, but still in orderly patterns: they look best on parade. A backdrop of forget-me-nots can readily be stuffed in the gaps and the result will always be a delight.
