Food for the soul

Country Life Every Week - - Letters To The Editor -

READING Jason Goodwin (November 21, 2018) talking about how housewives used to keep notebooks full of recipes gleaned from others brought a smile to my face. I have a battered book given to my mother by her father for Christmas in 1946, for her to assemble recipes in a neat A-Z order. I have my favourites, which I use often, but decided to have a look through to see what I might have missed and found several recipes in my grandmother’s hand and one, for mint jelly, in my grandfather’s. This book will remain one of my treasured possessions, a link with so many family members, gone but not forgotten. Louise Eden, Hertfordshire
