Diamonds are forever

-

MORE than 800 diamonds adorn the handsome Edwardian tiara that belonged to Lady Delia Peel (née Spencer)—diana, Princess of Wales’s great-aunt—which will be sold at Cheffins of Cambridge on November 30.

The elegant headpiece was given to Lady Delia by her father, the 6th Earl Spencer, on the occasion of her marriage, in 1914, to the Hon Sidney Peel, grandson of Prime Minister Sir Robert Peel. Ingeniously, the tiara can be divided and reformed, by means of hidden clasps, into a choker necklace and bracelet set.

It will be offered for sale, along with a hardback copy of Lady Delia’s biography by Priscilla Napier and a reproduction of The Times report of her wedding, with an estimate of £30,000– £40,000. For further information, visit www.cheffins.co.uk.
